Tenerife Beaches - Best Beaches in Tenerife
Tenerife gets almost 365 days of sunshine a year and has a stable warm temperature. So what can you do besides visit the normal places of interest? Well, try the beaches of course; there is no place better to get a suntan to be proud of. The Island of Tenerife has lots of superb beaches, some of the best in the Canary Islands. You can find volcanic fine black sand, soft golden sand, combined with warm calm clean water, all needed to get the prestigious Blue flag beaches Tenerife is famous for.
Most of Tenerife’s beaches offer a full range of water sports, such as kayaking, scuba diving, wind surfing, jet skiing, boat excursions. You name it, Tenerife has it.
General amenities on the beaches include: showers, tap water as you come off the beach to wash the sand off your feet, rental sun beds and parasols. Because parking near most beaches can be a problem you will find lots of taxi ranks and bus stops close, especially during the busy seasons.
Tenerife beaches have a flag warning system on most of them. For your own safety please respect these warnings:
Green flag : Good conditions, suitable for swimming.
Yellow flag: Caution must be taken when swimming; this could be due to big waves, strong currents or strong undertows.
Red flag: Extreme caution must be taken. Swimming is not forbidden, but due to the bad sea conditions, it is not recommended. Never go into the water unless you know what you’re doing and you are a strong swimmer.

Troya beach - Playa Troya

It is actually a series of beaches with a high occupancy rate. It offers great services and amenities including jet skis, pedal boats, sun beds, parasols, and boardwalks with restaurants and terraces overlooking the sea and beach. This beach is covered with light brown sand. The beaches are patrolled by lifeguards However, caution is always recommended when entering the sea; check the colour of the flag flying on the beach before entering the water. To reach Playa de Troya by public transport you can take any of the following Titsa buses 416, 441, 472 or 473.
Fanabe Beach - Playa Fanabe

It is certainly one of the most beautiful and important beaches on Tenerife .Each year it is awarded the distinctive Blue Flag of Excellence. The amenities on this beach include: lifeguards, rental of sun beds and parasols, showers, bathrooms, changing rooms, telephones. Parking, taxi rank and a bus stop are all near by. The water is usually very calm, so it makes a perfect beach to take your children or relax with a leisurely swim. Fañabé Beach is in a very busy tourist area, so it is surrounded by a large number of shops and restaurants with beautiful sea views. It has a beautiful sandy beach with very still water, and everything is very well maintained. It has many services such as disabled access, showers, dressing rooms, bathrooms, rental umbrellas and sun beds, promenade, restaurants, bars and parking.
Los Cristianos Beach - Playa de Los Cristianos
Playa de los Cristianos is a must visit beach any time of year. It is the beach of the old town and fishing port of Los Cristianos. Located in the municipality of Arona , on the south of the island of Tenerife, and right next to the Los Cristianos port. Click here to view on google maps.
One of the attractions on this beach is watching the ferries arrive and depart from the port. The beach is of fine golden sand, and is ideal place to take the sun. If you prefer, you can also rent a sun bed and umbrella. The beach is well known for its calm waters, ideal for the children, at any time of year. The beach has several volleyball nets. Volleyball being a very common sport, championships are organized throughout the year here. If you feel like having a drink or something to eat on the promenade, you will find many restaurants, cafeterias and a McDonald’s. Parking near this beach is possible. Next to the Los Cristianos port is a large parking area, but be aware, it is paid parking. You can also stroll through the village streets and possibly find parking. Playa del Camison

It is an artificial beach that is so named because of the Punta del Camison . As it is situated in a resort it has a beautiful promenade, lined with restaurants, cafes, shops and many activity during the day. If you like water sports, you will have no problems finding them all here. Playa del Camison is a fully accessible beach.
El Medano Beach - Playa del Medano
Reputed to be one of the largest on the island of Tenerife, El Medano beach also called Playa Grange by the locals (Big Beach). It is located about 5 km from the TFS Tenerife South airport (Reina Sofia).It is at the end of the pedestrian area in front of the El Medano square. It gets very crowded by families on the left side of the beach, being close to the hotels and apartments blocks. On the right side (the windy side) it is usually more crowded with windsurfers, surfers and kite surfers, so if you like these water sports, this is the beach for you.. Playa de Los Gigantes, also known as (Los Guios and Playa Argel) is located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. This beach is like no other. It lies between the famous over 500 meter high cliffs and the marina of Los Gigantes. This beach is just beautiful, with its black fine sand of volcanic origin and the fantastic backdrop of the impressive “Giants” cliffs. The view just takes your breath away. Playa Garden has been awarded the Blue Flag by the European Union, for its cleanliness and recognized quality of its waters. It is one of the most frequented by both locals and tourists.
